Speaking of money: Financial service firms that give value

Is there a better time than during an economic downturn to provide and share great information on insurance and financial matters?

Here are three examples that I’ve come across lately that provide limited but invaluable advice and information for people with money to invest.

Nolan Baker (Investment Professional), David Macino (Investment Professional), and Brent Hamilton (Long Term Care Specialist) are the Retirement Specialists of Northwest Ohio. Baker hosts a talk show on Toledo’s WSPD and WCWA.

The homepage is static, but downloadable podcasts, columns and events are updated regularly.

McGohan Brabender, located in Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus, provides group insurance brokerage/account management/benefit consulting and communication services. The company’s Stimulus Package Resource Page offerings are spare at this point, limited to a client Q&A, but it has topic potential. The McGohan Brabender site also contains an archive of video training, but these files are held behind an e-mail request for disc or download.

Cathy Curtis is an Oakland, California financial planner, who specializes in the needs of “savvy women, their families and their businesses.” Cathy has a wonderful web presence and great landing page content.

A primary concern of women is that they will be old and poor. And the simple truth is that women do have unique planning needs. . . . That is why it is so vital that women plan, save, and invest for financial security: it is not money that makes people financially successful, it is time.

As always, Jeremiah Owyang, senior analyst for Forrester Research, provides the most complete ongoing lists that highlight social media developments in the insurance and financial industries.

This pool of talent will broaden as firms solve compliance issues and begin consistently producing content that feeds a vast pool of Gen X and Gen Y investors.
