Eliminating the social in social media?

Facebook no comment

So you don't want to be social, eh?

It may sound crazy, but some people are interested in Facebook sans the conversation.

More than ironic because Facebook is set up to be social. Like being surprised when your car begins moving after you turn the key and step on the gas.

Here is an example of one entity that is trying social media without the social: http://www.facebook.com/ADHDMoms

In order to disable the comment feature on a fan page the page has to be whitelisted by Facebook. To request the whitelisting:

  1. You need to contact Facebook support team –http://www.facebook.com/help.php?ref=pf
  2. It will send you here http://www.facebook.com/help.php?page…
  3. Click on Bugs and known problems
  4. It will send you here http://www.facebook.com/help.php?page…
  5. Click on and expand this subsection called I get a “Site Maintenance” error – http://www.facebook.com/help/?faq=14087&ref_query=Sit
  6. Look for this “If you’re still having trouble after trying the above steps, please click here”
  7. Click on “click here.”
  8. It will send you here http://www.facebook.com/help/contact….
  9. Fill out the form.

Hope this helps.
